Head and Neck/Endocrine Pathology
The Head and Neck/Endocrine Pathology Unit of the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University focuses on diagnostic pathology of Head and Neck region including mucosal and mesenchymal lesions of the upper aerodigestive tract (eye, orbit, nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, nasopharynx, oral cavity, oropharynx, hypopharynx, and larynx), salivary gland and lesions of the endocrine organs including thyroid and parathyroid glands. Within NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, we receive head and neck cases from the Department of Otolaryngology, oral surgery as well as from the endocrine surgery division of general surgery. We provide comprehensive ancillary and molecular testing on site. In addition, we provide second-opinion diagnostic reviews of head and neck cases from outside laboratories and hospitals.
Pathology and Cell biology Department comprises more than 20 board-certified general surgical pathologists, all of whom have abundant experience with head and neck pathology. In addition, our faculty includes pathologists with subspecialty expertise in head and neck diseases who engage in scholarly work in field of Head and Neck pathology and publish in peer-reviewed journals and speak about these topics at regional and national conferences.
